Please join us Saturday June 3rd from 1 to 3pm for the opening exhibit for Jose Falconi
at Santa Barbara Hives-Carpinteria, 516 Palm Ave Carpinteria, CA.
I am an Ecuadorian born artist. To this day, my home country and its varied nature remains one of the main sources of inspiration for my art: from Galapagos Islands and beaches, to eternal glaciers, rolling hills and lagoons, colonial gold filled cities and churches, to the Amazon forest. It has been my pleasure to guide visitors around. At a young age, I fell in love with the majestic Andes mountains, and later became a mountain climber. All these powerful sights and sensations remain within me and inspire the vibrant symbolism and colors of my paintings.
Throughout the years, I’ve traveled with my family to many parts of the world. I lived in Costa Rica, the USA, Belgium, and from there traveled to dozens of other states and countries, especially around Europe. I am now living in Baja, Mexico near the California border. This has opened doors and given me inspiration.
I have been able to continuously find freedom and creativity exploring my sense of identity and incorporating a little piece of each place, all with the support of my loved ones. My art reflects these many locations, cultures, sceneries, dreams, and stories, blending the impressions and memories with emotional strokes and strong colors.
I am now excited to be able to share my work and vision with you. I provide here a range of styles and themes, mostly focusing on nature and dreams. I hope you will enjoy and find inspiration… and join me on my journey!

Santa Barbara Hives is open at 516 Palm Ave in Carpinteria! It has been an exciting month full of awesome support from locals, passerbys and the Carpinteria State Beach Campground campers. So many unexpected collaborations with local artists, jewelers and artisans making our "bee meets beach" store a fun, eclectic gift store.
The latest wave of excitement has been ushered in by our partnership with extremely talented, vegan, Chef Christopher Rayman of Sproutcraft Creamery who rode in on his bike, with beaver cowboy hat, to present his vegan cheeses. Unbelievable. You would never know, or care if you weren't, that they were vegan. We now offer "grab 'n go" sandwiches, salads and parfaits that won't have you missing meat or much else.
This past Saturday night though we had our first Pop Up Dinner in our space and Chef Rayman offered a beautiful menu showcasing his capabilities and sensibilities. It was a fantastic evening. Guests included three of our favorite artists whose work is available at Santa Barbara Hives. Chris Ward of Chris Ward Jewelry, Barbara Booth of Pedaling Paper and Tamara Thompson or MerMuse (seaweed art).

Keep an eye out for our next Pop Up on August 20th & 21st and our first art opening featuring the stunning seaweed art of Tamara Thompson!
Our store, at 516 Palm Ave in Carpinteria, is open and full of exciting things from local artists, artisans, jewelers and purveyors but we are also kicking off our event series with two fantastic Chefs!

The scout bees did their job and found a really nice place to make a new home in a tire protected by a pile of wood. We got the call last Fall from the owner that saw the swarm settling into the tire and offered to come and get them. Fast forward to the imminent Spring with beautiful weather and bloom and the bees not only survived the winter in their tire hive but they were about to explode in numbers and were much more active so we came in and placed them into a double hive box so we could relocate them to one of Santa Barbara Hives local apiaries.
There was no denying Tom Brady and Gronk in Superbowl 55 and there is no denying Ellen's Hot Wings recipe either! Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You might be tired of seeing Brady win but you gotta respect the accomplishments. Right Belichick?!

Back to the recipe. Baking Soda and Santa Barbara Hives honey are the secret ingredients.
